Watching dispensing in actionToday was the first day that im officially attached to a pharmacist to see how they dispense. Initially when i knew i was attached to this particular pharmacist, i was kinda worried. She doesnt really talk to us during the first 2 weeks of our attachment and i felt that she can be cold sometimes. But instead today, i think i get to know her better. She was actually kind and sharing. During the non peak hours, she would go through with me most of the prescriptions and telling me what exactly the patient is suffering from, and what disease the drugs are used for. Basically i learnt quite alot about some drugs which ive not been taught in school before. She also gave me some of the information leaflets to facilitate my learning of those "new" drugs. I think that watching them dispense is a very good way to learn. At least this will sometimes stimulate my thinking and get me flipping through references to clear my doubts. I think its better than just packing drugs day in and out mechanically, without even having the time to stop and think about the prescriptions and drugs' indications etc..
