Hi everyone! So sorry now then post my blog. 2 weeks gone already....got miss me or not? Ya...i admit miss u all...haiz...no one bullshit with me here...all alone in NUH cancer institute...except sometimes during lunch got ling ling, sharon, selina and janson to gossip with. Let me start sharing with u all what things i have done for these past 2 weeks:
Week 1 --> Orientation loh...repeat my history times and times...again and again until someone offer me to record down my history to save my saliva. Given a protocol to read and come up with CRF. Have my first part of 1 to 1 lecture (because i am the only one attached to there, so 1 to 1 loh) that last 2 hours! Talking about NUH Cancer Institute history and what I learnt in school. Almost doze off...haha...cos i get to lost concentration easily...but cannot blame me! 2 hours...its a pretty long time loh without any breaks... and i was hungry too at that time, thinking of cup corn and wages. Ya...other than that...get to go "jalan jalan" with the study coordinators to the cancer center...see subject loh...stand beside like road block like that...haha...but not bad lah...at least get to know better about real-life clinical trials.Also sometimes, get to be translator...haha...study coordinator who is a filipino, often bring me "jalan jalan" becuase whenever she has a chinese subject who speaks mandarin only, she will sure bring me go there and translate loh...like ask whether they feel good, got take medicine, any discomfort after chemo that sort of things...ya and also repeat my history to them...hence get to know some subjects and have a chance to show off my powerful mandarin! Thats what i did in the mornings. In the afternoon i will go over to the mursing admin to do a non-drug trial...there i key in data and ...enjoy myself...haha...siter nurses there very good to me...there slack....key in tons of data but once you get use to it then it will be fast...after that you can surf net and also they give me CD player to play music. Ask me to bring food to microwave and eat here also can. Then sometimes bring me "jalan jalan" loh. Share with me what nurses do and also bring me to NUH Quality Talk to take a lot freebies and have buffet there! (Zijie dun jealous hor)
Week 2 --> Design CRF and show it to the person in charge of me there, ms ong. Made a lot mistakes i should say. But its okay cos learn quite a lot from there. Ya get to do PK sampling on a new subject. Given 3 chances to do it. 1st chance I gave up cos I not prepared yet...its safer to make sure you understand the procedure then can do right? 2nd chance I poke into the cannula successfully! But blood was difficult to draw. I thought the moment you poke into the cannula...it would be easy to draw the blood. But i was wrong...it was difficult and i was shocked! luckily study coordinator say nvm and helped me along. So this time round consider fail lah cos got pple help. Then the 3rd chance, I managed to draw the blood successfully without help! so happy although is a simple process. And also i get to process the blood myself...in fact is just centrifuge, take out plasma and then put in the freezer correctly then done. Nursing admin there as usual...key in tons of data but fast enough to finish all...thats why now i have the time to blog in front of the sister nurse and play solitaire! haha! heard sister nurse say going to bring me ward one day to do the trial...maybe that will be fun loh...
